England reach Euro 2020 with 7-0 win over Montenegro
England have confirmed their place at Euro 2020 in emphatic style with a 7-0 demolition of Montenegro at Wembley.
Captain Harry Kane scored a hat-trick to help the Three Lions celebrate their 1,000th match in style, with a number of former players watching on from the stands.
The hapless visitors were put to the sword thanks to a scintillating attacking display – a welcome reminder of the exciting young talent manager Gareth Southgate has at his disposal ahead of the tournament next summer in 12 cities, including London.
Kane led by example, scoring all of his goals in the first-half to move into sixth in the all-time England scorers chart, and there were also strikes for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Marcus Rashford and Tammy Abraham.
Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell also made an impressive contribution going forward, laying on three assists.
Securing automatic qualification for Euro 2020 means England will play all three of their group matches at Wembley, boosting their chances of going deep into the knockout stages.
Southgate led his side to the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia last year and will be confident of making similarly impressive progress at the Euros.

His absence appeared to have little impact on England, whose attacking play was admired by greats such as record scorer and former captain Wayne Rooney, 1966 hero Sir Geoff Hurst and Paul Gascoigne.
