A 70-year-old woman was found dead inside her Upper West Side home with a cut to her neck, police said.

Police responding to a 911 call found Susan Trott unconscious and unresponsive inside her home on West End Avenue, near West 95th Street, just before 5 a.m. Sunday, the NYPD said.

Trott, who had a laceration to her neck, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Detectives say it is likely she had been there for some time. A coworker hadn't seen her for a few days and called police to check on her.

Neighbors said Trott lived in the building for more than a decade.

"She was generous and she was eccentric and she had strong opinions and I think she could relate very well to animals," neighbor Helen Stein said.

No one has been arrested in connection with Trotts death, but police are investigating the incident as a homicide, the NYPD said.

There was no forced entry, nothing appeared to be stolen and no notes were left behind, police said.
