Market Now: HPCL, BPCL keep the oil & gas index in the green

NEW DELHI: Gains in HPCL (up 2.93 per cent) and BPCL (up 1.80 per cent) were keeping the oil & gas index in the green during afternoon trade on Tuesday while global crude oil prices eased a little.

The BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 0.41 per cent up at 14,533 around 12:45 pm.

Shares of Indian Oil Corporation (up 0.88 per cent), Oil India (up 0.68 per cent) and Reliance Industries (up 0.33 per cent) were also witnessing a tepid rise.

However, Petronet LNG (down 0.90 per cent), Indraprastha Gas (down 0.90 per cent), GAIL (India) (down 0.79 per cent) and ONGC (down 0.35 per cent) were trading in the negative zone.

Gains in select bank, financial, FMCG and auto counters were keeping the benchmark indices up.

In the Sensex index, 15 stocks were trading with gains, while 15 were suffering losses.

ICICI Bank zoomed over 8 per cent on BSE, leading the pack of Sensex gainers.

Mahindra & Mahindra and IndusInd Bank were the top losers in the Sensex index.
