A Tube passenger has been charged with attempted murder after a man was hit by a train in central London.

Alan Alencar of Edinburgh was arrested at Bayswater Underground Station following the incident at around 5pm on Thursday.

The alleged victim, a man in his 50s, was hurt during the rush hour incident.

British Transport Police said the man was ‘struck by a train’.

He was rushed to hospital, where his injuries were deemed non-life threatening.

Alencar, 29, will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court this morning.

Following the incident, people took to social media sharing images of emergency vehicles on the scene.

Pasrt of the District and Circle lines were shut while police dealt with the incident.

They have since been reopened.
