Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel’s net worth, age, wife and when he founded Snapchat
Popular social media app Snapchat is a multi-purpose communications platform allowing users to send instant photo and video messages.
The widely used app was created by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy and Reggie Brown and was launched in September 2011.
The app has been in the headlines recently, with the launch of its new update, which has not gone down well with some of its users.
Some people are unhappy with the significant changes to the layout of the app, with the Friends, Discover and Stories sections all getting a makeover.
How was Snapchat founded?
The three Stanford students created the app in college when Spiegel was a product design major.
Evan Spiegel is the CEO of Snap Inc. with co-founder Bobby Murphy serving as Chief Technology Officer.
It was Brown who first thought of the idea for an app for sharing disappearing photos and shared it with roommate, Spiegel.
The pair later got Bobby Murphy on board to help make the idea a reality with his coding knowledge.
CEO Spiegel, 27, is one of the richest millennial billionaires in America, with a fortune around $4.2 billion (£3 billion), according to Forbes.
He also became the youngest public company CEO when the company began trading in March 2017.
He married Miranda Kerr, an Australian supermodel and owner of cosmetics line Kora Organics, in May 2017.
The pair began dating during the summer of 2015 after first meeting at a dinner for Louis Vuitton the year before.
The Australian model is expecting her second child and first with husband Spiegel after the couple announced they were expecting in November.
In 2013, Spiegel turned down an offer from Facebook to buy Snapchat for $3 billion.
